Texas utilities offer rebates for energy-efficient pool equipment, but they change frequently and have limited funding. Here's what's available right now and how to get it.
Oncor Rebates (Serves Most of DFW)
Oncor is the primary electric utility for Arlington and most of the DFW metroplex. They've historically offered rebates for ENERGY STAR certified variable-speed pool pumps through their Home Energy Efficiency Standard Offer Program.
Typical rebate: $100-300 for qualifying variable-speed pump installations.
Requirements usually include:
- ENERGY STAR certified variable-speed pump
- Installed by a licensed contractor
- Replaces an existing single-speed or dual-speed pump
- Must be installed at a permanent residence

How to Get the Rebate
- Check eligibility — Confirm your utility has active funding and your pump qualifies (ENERGY STAR certified variable-speed).
- Choose a qualifying pump — Most major brands qualify: Pentair IntelliFlo, Hayward Super Pump VS, Jandy VS FloPro, etc.
- Hire a licensed contractor — Most rebates require professional installation. We handle this.
- Submit paperwork — Your installer typically handles the rebate application, or you submit it with proof of purchase and installation.
- Receive your rebate — Usually arrives as a check or bill credit within 4-8 weeks.
Are There Rebates for Other Pool Equipment?
Pool pump rebates are the most common, but some utilities also offer incentives for:
- Pool heater upgrades — Heat pump pool heaters sometimes qualify for HVAC-style rebates since they're essentially heat pumps. Check with your utility. We also offer professional heater installation services.
- Pool covers — Some water conservation programs offer rebates for solar or thermal pool covers that reduce evaporation and heating costs.
- Variable-frequency drives — A few programs offer incentives for adding VFD controls to existing pumps.
Federal Tax Credits?
As of 2026, there are no federal tax credits specifically for pool equipment. The Inflation Reduction Act's energy efficiency credits (25C) cover HVAC, water heaters, windows, and doors — but not pool pumps or heaters.
However, if you install a heat pump pool heater, it may qualify under the same category as a heat pump water heater in some interpretations. Check with your tax professional.

Don't let the rebate be the deciding factor — the energy savings from a variable-speed pump ($500-800/year) dwarf any rebate. But if there's money available, take it.
